DIY: Homemade Sprinkles

DIY homemade sprinkles, really you guys its super easy and you can literally make anything you want. Obviously you would need a teeny bit of steady hands for making these (you see some my wonky shaped one đŸ˜€ )

Homemade Carrot Sprinkles

Homemade royal icing carrot shaped sprinkles

Course Dessert
Prep Time 10 minutes
Servings 100 sprinkles

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 tbsp Meringue powder
  • 1 tsp Cream of Tartar
  • 60 ml Warm water 1/4 cup
  • 400 gm Icing sugar 3 1/4 cup
  • 1 tsp Vanilla extract
  • Orange and Leaf Green food colouring

Instructions

  1. In the bowl of a stand mixer, add the water and meringue powder. Whisk for  30 seconds.

  2. Add the cream of tartar and whisk for 30 seconds. 

  3. Add the icing sugar and whisk for 5-6 minutes. Add vanilla and whisk.

  4. Separate 2/3rd's of the royal icing into a different bowl and add orange food colouring. The rest of the mixture add leaf green colour. 

  5. Using Wilton round  tip 5 for orange and Wilton round tip 3  for green. 

  6. On a large baking sheet lined with parchment. Make tiny carrot shaped sprinkles of about 1-2 cm / 1/4 inch sized. Squiggle tiny leaves on the carrots for carrot tops! 

  7. Let it dry overnight to a day depending on the humidity level. Once completely dried, they dont stick to the parchment. Store in an airtight bottle. 

Recipe Notes

This is going to make a gazillion sprinkles so if you want other sprinkles you can keep aside some and add different colour and make different sprinkles. 

If the consistency is not thick enough and feels runny, add and whisk 2-3 tablespoons or more of icing sugar depending on the consistency.
